The First Day of “Combating Violence Against Women Forum” at Faculty of Law, Tanta University, in Collaboration with the Directorate of Culture in Tanta

Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Hussein Mahmoud, Acting President of Tanta University and Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Mahmoud Selim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Osama Ahmed Badr, Dean of Faculty of Law; and Prof. Samy Mohamed Abdel-Aal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Faculty of Law at Tanta University launched the first day of the cultural forum titled “Combating Violence Against Women,” in collaboration with the Directorate of Culture in Tanta.

   The event was attended by a distinguished group of academic staff members, teaching assistants and administrative staff of the faculty, as well as esteemed guests, including Prof. Randa Mostafa El-Deeb, Professor at Faculty of Education at Tanta University, founder of the “Raise Your Child Right” initiative, and Manager of Combating Violence Against Women Unit at Tanta University. Representing the Ministry of Culture were Mr. Wael Shahin, Director of the Cultural Palaces Authority in Gharbia, and Ms. Ebtisam Qandil, Head of the Women's Department and Coordinator of the Forum.

   At the beginning of the forum, Prof. Osama Ahmed Badr, Faculty Dean, welcomed the guests and emphasized the vital role of the Ministry of Culture in raising awareness to combat violence against women. He also highlighted the importance of legislation in providing practical solutions to eradicate this phenomenon, the role of families and NGOs in fostering societal awareness, and the significant contribution of the media in addressing the issue effectively. The forum is held under the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Human Development”, aiming to educate students and foster a safe and aware community.

   At the end of the forum, Prof. Osama Ahmed Badr presented the Faculty Shield to Mr. Wael Shahin in recognition of his efforts in raising awareness among university students and his distinguished contributions. In addition, Mr. Wael Shahin presented a certificate of appreciation to Prof. Osama Ahmed Badr for the Faculty’s hosting of the event.
