The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology announces the organization of an introductory webinar as part of the activities of the third edition of the Presidential African Youth in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Competition, hosted by Egypt. The webinar, entitled “Unlocking Africa’s Future Through Artificial Intelligence and Robotics: Opportunities for Egyptian Youth,” will be held online on May 6. The webinar targets Egyptian youth, innovators, students, developers, and entrepreneurs, and will provide an overview of the competition, along with insights and practical guidance on how to participate and excel.
The webinar will address opportunities for innovation in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics, pathways for developing effective solutions, and means of engaging with Africa’s growing AI and robotics system. It will also highlight opportunities for funding and mentorship, in addition to providing participants with opportunities for direct communication with the competition organizers. Furthermore, the webinar will offer valuable information regarding application requirements and competition categories.
Through hosting the competition, Egypt continues to strengthen its regional leadership in digital innovation by implementing national initiatives and adopting an ambitious vision aimed at creating an integrated environment that supports advanced technologies. Hosting the competition proves Egypt’s commitment to empowering African youth, enhancing cooperation with African countries, and accelerating the transition toward a competitive knowledge-based economy.
It is worth noting that Egypt is hosting the third edition of the Presidential African Youth in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Competition, organized in cooperation with the African Union Development Agency and the Ele-vate AI Africa Initiative, under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. This is within the framework of Egypt’s growing efforts to support digital transformation and promote innovation across Africa.
Several regional and international organizations are participating in organizing the competition, including the International Telecommunication Union, the African Development Bank, the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, the African Export-Import Bank, and many leading global companies operating in the field of information and communication technology.
The competition is considered one of the continent’s leading initiatives aimed at strengthening Africa’s leadership in the fields of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It seeks to encourage young people aged 18 to 35 to develop solutions based on artificial intelligence, robotics, and emerging technologies to address developmental challenges across the continent and support sustainable development pathways.
The competition provides an interactive platform that supports transforming ideas into effective applications and offers networking opportunities connecting young innovators with investors, decision-makers, and industry leaders. The competition also contributes to the development of regulatory frameworks and funding mechanisms that support digital transformation and industrialization in Africa, in line with the African Union Agenda 2063.
The competition objectives include eliminating hunger and achieving food security, preventing and combating diseases within the framework of public health, protecting African cyberspace and enhancing digital connectivity, and building knowledge- and innovation-based societies.
This year’s edition of the competition includes 12 main pivots covering vital fields, including healthcare, education, agriculture, mining, climate, construction and architecture, financial technology, AI ethics, robotics design, quantum computing, in addition to an open category. The Grand Prize, namely the Presidential Award, will be granted to the most outstanding innovations capable of creating tangible and sustainable impact and supporting inclusive growth pathways across the continent. Finalists in this category will be honored during the activities of the AI for Good Global Summit, organized by the International Telecommunication Union in July.
